Nature Coast humidity

Citrus is our most northern county and one of the most humid. Between the springs, rivers and canals around Crystal River and Homosassa, moisture gets into insulation that was never designed to handle it.

On the Nature Coast humidity is the constant. Older homes, rural properties and a lot of manufactured homes mean we see moisture-damaged insulation and failing underbellies every week.

Well these boys certainly were a treat. My husband and I were curious about spray foam but had some reservations. None of the other contractors who visited us really helped us feel comfortable, and my gut was telling me maybe just move on and don't do it. But then Danny came out. He spent 45 minutes just inspecting our home and then took the extra time to answer our questions and go over the heat hunters process. We felt like we finally found what we were looking for. Fast forward to installation day, and Travis and Jay did such a wonderful job. We are so happy! I was worried about smells, but no smells! Just quiet and comfortable! It's rare to have such a positive experience with a contractor. We were so surprised to get service like this in this day and age. I can't brag about them enough. Well done "heat hunters"!

FAQ

Insulation in Citrus County: common questions

Quick answers. Anything else, just ask at your free inspection.

Where in Citrus County do you work?
All of it. Crystal River, Inverness, Homosassa, Beverly Hills, Lecanto, Floral City and everywhere in between.
Can humidity damage the insulation in my home?
Yes. In very humid areas, older insulation can soak up moisture, lose much of its effect and start to smell musty. We check for damp or damaged insulation and the air leaks letting humid air in as part of the free inspection.
Do you insulate mobile and manufactured homes in Citrus County?
Yes. We seal mobile home underbellies with spray foam that won't sag, tear or hold water, across the whole county.
Do you charge for travel to Citrus County?
No. Inspections are free anywhere in the county, with no travel charge.
What types of buildings do you insulate?
Homes, mobile and manufactured homes, garages, workshops and commercial buildings like warehouses, metal buildings, offices and retail units.
How long does a typical job take?
Most homes are done in a day or two. Larger removals and commercial spray foam jobs can take longer, and we'll give you a clear timeline with your price.
Will I get a price before any work starts?
Yes. You get a straight recommendation and a written price on the day of your free inspection, with no obligation to go ahead.
Do I need to be home for the work?
Someone needs to let us in at the start and check the work with us at the end. In between, you can carry on with your day.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why remove old insulation instead of adding more on top?

Old insulation is often flattened, patchy, damp or contaminated with dust and rodent waste. Piling new material on top buries those problems and blocks access to the air leaks underneath. Removing it lets us sanitize, seal the leaks properly, then re-insulate on a clean base, so you get the full benefit of the new insulation.

What happens at the free attic inspection?

A Heat Hunters tech checks your attic, insulation and AC, takes photos of what's up there and walks you through them. You get clear options and same-day pricing. If nothing needs doing, we'll tell you.

What's a blower door and why do your installers use it?

A blower door is a powerful fan fitted into a doorway that depressurizes the house. While it runs, air rushes through every hidden crack, which makes leaks easy for our crew to find and seal. The reading drops as leaks are closed, so we know the air sealing is working.

How long does removal and re-insulation take?

It depends on the size and condition of your attic. You'll get a clear timeline with your quote, and we work around your schedule.

What types of homes do you work on?

Homes with an attic: single-family homes, townhomes, side-by-side duplexes and mobile homes. For businesses, see our commercial spray foam services.
