Current HVAC tech here, I had Danny come out and did a performance evaluation on my home. Working in the HVAC industry I have a decent knowledge base on air flow and humidity in the home. After Danny came over he asked questions like : if there were any concerns & what I was looking to improve.

My main concern was air intrusion and if my A/C was fighting my home cause being in the HVAC trade I know my A/C is running correctly. He measure the air intrusion with a blower door test, s arched for air leaks with a smoke wand, and after showing where the air came from with the smoke put a thermal camera to show the heat coming in through those spots. Learned a lot from talking to the gentleman and everything he said lined up with what I know from the A/C side.

I was absolutely blown away by how thorough the initial inspection was. Danny spent over an hour looking at my gas water heater, the AC, the attic, and then doing that crazy blower door test! I can't believe I hadn't heard of that test sooner. I KNEW my house had to have been wasting cold air...I just didnt realize how bad it was. Such an eye opener. And I didnt think i could have so much fun learning about heat and "building science" (that's a new one for me). My wife and I learned more about our home from Heat Hunters in 2 hours than we have in the last 5 years from several different HVAC companies.

We were excited to move forward and we are so glad we did. It feels amazing in here and it's so refreshing to deal with a company who gives a damn and treats you like royalty. The install crew was so polite to us and respectful of our space. They came in and laid down tarp over our carpeting and put plastic on our walls while they explained the plan. They removed the old insulation and cleaned up and then sprayed closed foam in our attic. We felt so safe with all of the testing they did throughout the process, and with the awesome communication. I can't thank these guys enough. Everyone should have their heat hunted by the Heat Hunters!

FAQ

Insulation in Manatee County: common questions

Quick answers. Anything else, just ask at your free inspection.

Where in Manatee County do you work?
All of it. Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto, Parrish, Ellenton, Myakka City, and Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island.
Do you work on Anna Maria Island?
Yes. Island homes deal with salt air, humidity and storm damage, so we check for wet or damaged insulation and air leaks as part of the free inspection.
I'm in a new Lakewood Ranch or Parrish home. Why are some rooms so hot?
Newer homes usually have enough insulation, but the air sealing and duct sealing are often rushed during the build. The free inspection finds where the cool air is escaping.
Do you charge for travel to Manatee County?
No. Inspections are free anywhere in the county, with no travel charge.
What types of buildings do you insulate?
Homes, mobile and manufactured homes, garages, workshops and commercial buildings like warehouses, metal buildings, offices and retail units.
How long does a typical job take?
Most homes are done in a day or two. Larger removals and commercial spray foam jobs can take longer, and we'll give you a clear timeline with your price.
Will I get a price before any work starts?
Yes. You get a straight recommendation and a written price on the day of your free inspection, with no obligation to go ahead.
Do I need to be home for the work?
Someone needs to let us in at the start and check the work with us at the end. In between, you can carry on with your day.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why remove old insulation instead of adding more on top?

Old insulation is often flattened, patchy, damp or contaminated with dust and rodent waste. Piling new material on top buries those problems and blocks access to the air leaks underneath. Removing it lets us sanitize, seal the leaks properly, then re-insulate on a clean base, so you get the full benefit of the new insulation.

What happens at the free attic inspection?

A Heat Hunters tech checks your attic, insulation and AC, takes photos of what's up there and walks you through them. You get clear options and same-day pricing. If nothing needs doing, we'll tell you.

What's a blower door and why do your installers use it?

A blower door is a powerful fan fitted into a doorway that depressurizes the house. While it runs, air rushes through every hidden crack, which makes leaks easy for our crew to find and seal. The reading drops as leaks are closed, so we know the air sealing is working.

How long does removal and re-insulation take?

It depends on the size and condition of your attic. You'll get a clear timeline with your quote, and we work around your schedule.

What types of homes do you work on?

Homes with an attic: single-family homes, townhomes, side-by-side duplexes and mobile homes. For businesses, see our commercial spray foam services.
